Mezzanine Floors In Cape Town
A mezzanine floor is a raised steel platform built inside an existing building to create an extra level of usable space. It’s the fastest way to double your storage or working area without moving premises or extending the building. Olmec Steel designs, manufactures and installs structural mezzanine floors across Cape Town and beyond.
Built for
Your mezzanine floor installation needs
We’ve installed mezzanines for warehouses, a sheet metal punching company, a craft brewery, a butchery and deli, and one of Cape Town’s busiest gyms. Each one was engineered around the client’s load requirements and layout. Decking is typically 21mm shutter-ply, sealed with a two-compound epoxy coating that’s hard wearing and waterproof. Floors are finished with handrails and steel staircases, and where pallets move up and down we fit pallet swivel gates so loading stays safe.

FAQS
How long does a mezzanine floor take to install?
It depends on size and complexity. As a real benchmark, we manufactured and installed a four-tier structural mezzanine, with two flights of stairs and pallet gates on every level, in six weeks. A simple single-level floor takes considerably less.
How much does a mezzanine floor cost in South Africa?
Price depends on the span, the load it must carry, the decking and the access (stairs, gates, rails). Rather than quote a misleading rate per square metre, we do a free site visit and give you a fixed quote based on your actual requirements.
What is a structural mezzanine floor?
A structural mezzanine is a free-standing steel floor engineered to carry serious loads, people, stock or machinery, independent of the building's racking or walls. It can usually be dismantled and relocated if you ever move premises.
